My parents came to visit us and we had an absolutely lovely time. We showed them around Durham, they got to see our daily routines, and...

they were each appointed seats to the House of Representatives!! Just kidding. We actually just went on a fun weekend trip to Washington D.C.

Roosevelt once said, "Speak softly, and carry a big stick." D.C. is in fact the home of America's largest and pointiest stick, which can be seen in the background above. This explains why Roosevelt indeed spoke so very softly.

Just as we have with so many of our other beloved visitors, we all went to Duke Gardens.

We never grow tired of the gardens, because different flowers have been in bloom each time and the tulips were particularly big and beautiful this time. You can't quite see the scale on this picture, but the top of the flower goes up to about where my neck is.

It was such precious time and it went by so quickly. Thanks so much for making the trip to see us!

Wow, the House of Representatives! Impressive! Sounds positively Capitol! But you missed the BEST part of DC...the Beckwiths, of course! I'm sure your parents are nice and all, but...seriously. We live about 40 minutes west of DC.

I'm just going off of Mike's opinions here, because I've never actually met either of you. Sameer is conveniently off at "school" or "getting married" or something crazy every time we're in Idaho. But he seems to think pretty highly of you, so next time you're in DC, give us a buzz!

OH! And we're glad you had a great time! Looks like it was nice out, too!

Well, perhaps we should come and hang out with you guys some weekend -- we just got our car's AC fixed, so a road trip actually sounds tolerable! It would be fun to see you two together - it's been WAY too long since I've seen Mike.

I was just reading your blog -- sorry to hear that Mike's got scoliosis! Us Yadav boys know back pain, so we can sympathize, if you he should ever need someone to turn to for crotchety old-man complaints about his achin' back.

Fun times Yadavs! Of course, not as fun as hanging out with The Pues for Lost on Thursday nights, eating good food and frangelico liqueur flavored scharfenburger chocolate mousse... oh well, maybe some other time.

Seriously, we miss you guys, especially Thursday nights at 10pm... which I guess is Thursday night at 2am your time, which means you're probably not missing us, you're sleeping.

p.s. my word verification today is "zwitg", which I think is a great sounding word.
